Took my B class into a Mercedes dealership today for a quote as my dash is telling me I have 1500 miles until its due a D service - 6 years old, 35000miles.
Apparently its the same as a B service. A (+C) = minor, B (+D) = major.
I was told that an A was £225. Not much help as I asked for a D (B) service but finally found out that "thats only £299". Ok, I thought but "what is done"?
I could not get an answer from him apart from "a change of brake fluid worth £50 and an internal/external filter for air coming into the cabin (whatever that is)". I told him that I changed my brake fluid when doing the brakes 6 months ago so didnt need that doing.
So what is this D service then? Can anyone shed any light as to what will get done and are they likely to pile on charges midway through as they said they would need to check the computer with the chassis number to find out what exactly will need doing - although he wasnt prepared to do that then. What a headache, Im not prepared to hand my car over to a dealer to be at the mercy of what effectively is a blank cheque.
