I am looking to change the exhaust on my 05 SL55. I want it to sound more dramatic with pops and crack sounds, perhaps more C63 like. I don't want a straight pipe sound, just a bit more dramatic sounding when blipping the accelerator pedal. I want to keep the pre cats also.

Anyone done this to their SL55 and have real experience of such a system? please do share

On my SL500 I had the back boxes stripped out and larger pipes straight through - this leaves the tips original. Popped and crackled nicely under load and also gave a much nicer proper V8 sound without being drony...
Done by Cybox, Bromborough here on the Wirral

Id get rid of the secondary cats and resonator and do a x-pipe first and see what you think......

Jon @ BFT/MSL (sponsor on here) has figured out a way to make the exhaust in SL55 pop. It's in the map I believe. You should get in touch with him - BFT@MSL

I spoke with John, unfortunately his map will mean no MOT pass :( so not an option. I will look into the traditional X Pipe route to liberate some menacing sound.
