SLK 200 2002
HI

Pleeeease help i am struggling to find out which oil i need to put in my merc gearbox even mercedes cant tell me :-(

I have a Mercedes SLK 200 Manual on a 2002 however struggling to find which oil to change the gearbox with....there seems to be loads or information for automatics but not manuals.

If anyone has the same model or has previously had the same model and can give any advise it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks very much

Gav

Probably ATF. MB have been using ATF on manual gearboxes since the 1950s.
Check the oil when you drain it should feel very thin compared to gear oil.
If the gear change is very stiff when cold, wrong oil.

That's why the correct manual gearbox oil is a 70W75 ;)

75W MTF is the right oil but you will have a problem finding any approved alternative to the MB's own part number as they don't list many other oils and what they do is near impossible to find. You will find some alternatives by googling the MB part number although they won't be fully the MB 235.10 approved.

Interesting that the part number was found in a US document. They won't won't let MB get away with not providing the information in the US.

He's already received the answer .
