What Have You Done To Your Merc Today?

Yesterday - kerbed the nearside front wheel  Car is going for detailing and ceramic coating next week anyway so spoke to the guy there and he's going to have them repaired and refurbished while it's in (I was planning on changing the wheels' colour anyway) so it worked out OK in the end.

Gave her a major service for a 15 week stint in London travelling from Doncaster

Gave the coupe an outing since it was a dry day.

Got a quote for bodywork on the saloon. Think it might be time to go for this one...

Ok....so after six months of constantly have to unblock the A Class's washer jets I decided to do a proper job. I removed and cleaned the jets....but the main cause was about 17 years of accumulated crud in the reservoir. So I removed it...one twist peg and it lifts out.....and gave it a good scrub inside and out in the kitchen sink with Fairy Liquid....sorted! and it looks much better under the bonnet too. So nice to have all 6 jets working....rather than the one of two we have been used to. 20 minutes in total.

Just the rest of the engine bay to do now 😁

Yes ...under the bonnet could use a clean....and would get it if it was driven much by me.....but its SWMBO's car most of the time. Way too slow for me!! But apart from the air filter and intake there is not much engine to clean.....most of the engine is under your feet on a W169!

Had maintenance details on two. Not using them all so often, and them getting dirty quickly at this time of year means that I’m most having the outsides only done for the foreseeable.

Took a very noisy one for the long drive to McDonalds to pick up breakfast. There’s still lots of flooding around here but it’s mostly receded from the roads now - but the roads are filthy as a result of water washing off the fields - so it was a good day to take a low car before it being detailed.

Opened the doors from dusk till dawn on a couple of them which are not used daily to air them out

Hugely exciting i know :D

Up and out of the house early for a trip to the main dealer. It was a really beautiful morning so I took the longer scenic route and stopped for an early coffee and porridge on the way.

When the work was done they tried to charge me for an extra 1.2 hours of labour (which I spotted), and handed me back the car with the fault present, without even mentioning it!

Based on experience I remembered to ask the service advisor to come out and check that it was fixed before I left. It wasn’t so out came a tech, workshop foreman, etc who concluded the same.

So back in a few weeks for another visit. In the meantime I’m out of pocket for a repair that didn’t fix it, but apparently needed doing! Hopefully they’ll not charge next time, let’s see!

I have a good relationship with them so I don’t mind too much, but it would probably make other customers go up the wall - easily avoided with a quick check and a conversation.

You can imagine the conversation after you left:
Service Advisor to Workshop Foreman:
"You absolute plonker!!"
Foreman: "What??"
Advisor: "You know who that was, don't you?"
Foreman: "No.Who?"
Advisor "That was only Bobby Dazzler! He's got a Smart ForFour AMG Black Series Night Edition Premium Plus 125 Powered by Brabus."
Foreman: "Oh *^%$"&+"
