what is it?

Hi All

in the passenger door of my '94 e320 coupe there is a clear plastic panel under the grab handle. what does it do? is it anything to do with the courtesy lights i have under both doors?

Nope, it comes from an era when Mercedes thought of everything ...

Its where your handbook should live, and the little clear panel is there so you can see if it is there or not ...

Not quite Howard.

Not for the handbook but for the service booklet and the next service page is displayed with mileage sheet showing as a reminder (and the driver can see it).
