Hi all,

I hope everyone is well.

I need to buy some scuffmaster, however the numbers do not match on the website from Gliptone.

I have found scuffs on my steering wheel and handbrake. W169.

On the Datacard it says 721A Leather Combination - Black/ Anthracite

280 - Leather Steering Wheel and Leather Gear Shift Knob.
700 - Leather Combination
721A - Leather Combination - Black/ Anthracite

Would I be safe just buying black scuffmaster?

Kind Regards

Black die does show on Anthracite leather, you really need very dark grey.

Thanks Dieselman,

Do you or does somebody know the code for Anthracite?

On the Mercedes website it says the steering wheel is Nappa Leather and the handbrake is black leather. On visual appearence they look the same.

Assuming you have the standard interior and not optional full leather:

CLOTH/ARTICO ARTIFICIAL LEATHER
(STANDARD ON ELEGANCE SE/AVANTGARDE SE)

411 Black Bastogne/Artico 1,2
721 Black Bastogne/Artico 1,3

415 Orient Beige Bastogne/Artico 1,2
725 Orient Beige Bastogne/Artico 1,3

418 Alpaca Grey Bastogne/Artico 1,2
728 Alpaca Grey Bastogne/Artico 1,3

1 Artificial leather
2 Standard on Elegance SE
3 Standard on Avantgarde SE

Thanks npuk :)

From what you are saying and looking back at the Datacard it is 721.

I can not find that on the Gliptone website though.

Where did you find those details? I assume if I did condition the artificial leather with Gliptone conditioner it would just sit on top and not be asbsorbed?

Kind Regards

Is the leather code for the handbrake the same as the seats? The leather on the handbrake, gearshift and steering wheel looks the same.

Info is from the a-class brochure.

Give your local dealer parts department a ring and give them the VIN number and they may able to give you an individual colour code for the seat, handbrake etc. AFAIK they get that info on their system.

Will do :)

The best way is to send Gliptone your headrest and they will match the colour.

Gliptone also recommend sending them a smal bit like a snip from the excess trim under a seat, so they can ensure u get a good colour match...

The seat trim is not the same as the handbrake, gearshift or the steering wheel.

Thanks for the comments. On the Mercedes website and the brochure it says black leather for the handbrake and gearshift and Nappa Leather for the steering wheel.

The seats are 721 Black Bastogne/Artico, thanks to npuk for finding out. :)

Update

I phoned Gliptone today and they suggested I purchase the Mercedes Black from them and use the toners to adjust the colour, if need be.

They did offer me Anthracite, however I was informed that it is difficult to change lighter colours to dark and it is easier to change dark colours to lighter shades.

Thanks again
