In order to create unbiased and balanced talk, this thread can talk about what is great out owning an MB.

So my turn first..

welll.. Mercedes have always, in the bigger picture been about safety, and class, and i guess to the general public, this is still the case..

You still gets heads turning as they are still out of the price reach of millions, and that everything about them still shouts quality quality and quality... (until you realise there is more plastic than leather in the car) but thats not the point lol

still cars to dream about....

Trying a different tack?

LOL

if you read the last time of my other thread to howard, you will see my reason for this thread.

Cars in general are out of reach of millions. Is this a plus point for Mercedes owners? I don't drive my car so I can be seen. I drive it for me. If you think you are getting more admiring glances from the great unwashed, than the other type of glance then think again. On the other hand do you really believe that a car as common on UK roads as a Merc merits a second glance.

They're not Audi's

They just feel solid, when you close a door it has that resounding thunk, the ride is smooth, they seem to whoosh along and after a long drive you are not worn out, dare I say reliable.. Oh, and they look nice, even when they are old.

im superior to most other cars as im driving a mercedes

mainly as they paid £7k for a 3 year old mondeo, citroen, saab, bmw, renault ect. and mine is faster, better looking, quicker, more stylish and its 15 years old and worht half what theirs cost and in 5 years will be worth more than theirs is then

People always think me and the wife are rich as we both drive mercs, but as we point out their eurobox is worth more than our old cars:D.

Why do we drive them? reasonably reliable, thinking would be less hassle than all my old landrovers but no different, basically its a nice car for not a lot of money.

W124s........................or earlier

Later - the competitors has caught up and probably past MBZ

I would have to disagree with that comment , by making a clear distinction between COST and WORTH .

Your friends may well have paid more for their tin boxes , but they will never have the lasting value of a Mercedes .

I would never swap any of my Mercedes for any new car currently in a showroom , regardless of price tags .

Have to say quite a few of them have cars older than mine and mines old, generally used as work hacks, BUT no rust:rolleyes: unlike mine.

Yes, but all cars have a worth at a particular point in time. The guy next door with a Renault Megane Sport has a car worth more than mine is worth now,ie he would get more money for it than I would for mine, now. His car may be new(ish ) and mine old and my car may have more inherent value in terms of design and build etc but there is no doubt his is worth more.

interesting point.

i had considered the new e class, but am thoroughly dissapointed.

sorry to all you guys who hate me moaning, but freedom of information, free membership to forum blah blah, dont like my points, click on another thread.

there is still an inherent charm with the new cars.. but i lack the desire to wanna get any more...

i like the s class alot, but its too big to be comfortable and i think it should go.

the new e class is so ugly, inside and out, yes it has some lines that are nice, but overall, its too rigid, does not flow very well, and the dash is too angular.. and e coupe is alot worse..

i think i will skip this generation (for now atleast) unless there was a very large price tag drop, then might, for the sake that my slk needs changing, and the new slks are nice, but i actually prefer the look and feel of the new z4

my car did not cost a million dollars but I certainly feel a million dollars every time I get behind the wheel...wish I could stop feeling like a 'poser' when the roof is down thou!
