What is the exact procedure to get replacement key for w210

My MB dealer wont give me the key I have ordered and paid for.
They say I have to bring the car in so they can register the new key, check the vin number, have another look at all the documentation and charge me another £50.00 for next to nothing. Is this kosher or just another rip off.

mmm its difficult, as they cant hand these keys out willy nilly, but i dont see why they have to charge you for doing this for god sake. I'd want to speak to the head man there personally

Maybe the £50 is to sync the key up, which you can do yourself anyway. When I enquired about one for mine (which I still need to sort out) I was told £185 for the key and I would need to bring the V5 and I think 2 forms of Identification. Passport/driving license and a utility bill of some sort.
