What is the important spec for a new E class estate?

This is for the estate and the balloon is 18700. Fairly steep, but I think this one will be a keeper. The added kit adds quite a lot to the balloon from basic spec. Looks like you pay some down during the pcp duration and things like auto box and part of the comand and pan roof are in the balloon, if you get me!!

All the payments included the VAT.

Just had an email from the dealer, as of March production, all e class executive SE get the sport steering wheel as standard, the three spoke, rather than the 4 spoke, and the exterior styling package as a 1495 option, includes the AMG bodykit. Basically, it looks like you are getting a sport 220 for SE money. It's a great deal.

I would add keyless go and remote boot opening if not included in standard spec. Both are very useful in practice.

I had a quote on the 'basic' as it comes car...

E220Cdi SE executive Auto 7g plus
Full leather
Command
Parktronic f/r
heated seats
Auto Tailgate
Alloys
Metalic
twin pipes

6 + 35 @ £330 month inc vat. £1980 plus £11550 total £13530

Balloon paymnet = £17950

Total = £31,480

This deal has apparently just ended up new ones will be around soon so I have been advised

That's a great deal. Just looked at a few leasing deals and with the spec it's there or thereabouts. Just got to decide what to do. Thanks for the info, I will keep looking and thinking.

42k miles in on my 2010 E220 Diesel Auto Estate, currently averaging 46mpg.

It's the 5 speed box not the 7 speed with new MY, I understand you'll get a few more mpg as a result so 50mpg should be achievable.

I've slowed down in the E from my previous Legacy (great car, very thirsty!) and tend to cruise at 60mph rather drive at or beyond the limit. What's interesting is that on most journeys it only adds a couple a minutes to the journey time and is much more relaxed (perfect for the E).

I tend to get 40+ regardless and over 50 on a run. It's only really short start stop journeys <10mins that kill economy and the colder weather. If your driving tends to be 20-30 minutes at a time and you're not crazy with the right foot you should see 50mpg easily. I was averaging consistently over 50mpg in the summer, and probably mid 40s in the winter.

Have just done first few hundred miles in my 2010 e class estate since i picked it up and it is averaging 36mpg so far, not sure what i am doing different. I am very light with the right foot. Trips are 30 miles each time averaging 30 mph on a roads.

I was expecting 40 mpg as minimum

Any tips?

She'll loosen up soon, give it time

I bought an E220CDi A'garde estate auto about a month ago - 2012 reg with 3k on clock. It has some for of appearance pack (which includes 18" wheels and the twin quare exhausts), but doesnt have COMAND or Nav.

I've done 3500 miles in it already, mainly up and down the Motorways, and so far I am very impressed. I didnt want a Sport - didnt want the dark headlining or the harder suspension (scared off by previous BMW M Sports!) but did want it to cruise well and look decent....

I wouldnt want to be without the ILS, not sure how I managed without them before! I like the full leather too.

what sort of mpg are you getting?

not sure if there have been any software changes that might make a difference.

I think the average since I collected it is about 47. On a normal morning commute of 130 miles, I tend to average about 49 or 50, if there arent any significant queues on the M1.

I generally cruise at about 72 or 73mph, try to avoid harsh acceleration and leave a reasonable gap so I'm on the brakes less....

Hi Billigmeister

As mentioned in my original post, the only time I get anything below 40 mpg is very sort journeys.

How many miles has your car done?

Usual suspects if your not getting what you expect ( other than driving style) are tyre pressures, cold weather, roof bars etc.

Try selecting the fuel monitor on the dash readout, and feathering the throttle to keep the reading over 40mpg.

The cold weather can really knock the mpg, so don`t be too concerned just yet. See what happens as things warm up. Also depending on which injectors you have fitted and the ecu map, you`ll find the mpg readout isn`t always accurate. My car has always under read by as much as 3mpg, the only real way to check is brim to brim refills and abit of mental arithmatic (or use a calculator if necessary).

Hope things improve, they`re great cars (mines done 70k with nothing other than fuel and tyres).

blind spot assist is v useful on the E.
As is rev camera.

I feel COMAND is worth it but at the end of the day its a luxury.
HK is well worth it

Stealer has offered, e class executive SE, with metallic, 7g plus box, leather etc as standard. Options of pan roof , comand, harmon kardon, privacy glass, plus the styling pack (with AMG body kit). £3500 down, £440 per month. 3 years pcp. Will have a look at a private lease, but the above figure, taking the company car allowance as I do is great. Just need to clarify the body kit issue.
My 250 cdi estate in avantgarde trim was only £460 pm over 3 years and importantly has comand . ILS is standard and a must have - quite the most effective bit of kit I have ever had. There are lots of other standard things including the twin tail pipes which interestingly are both connected!

Thanks for reply neil.

It has done 70k miles. Drives nicely and could be just weather etc. will check out the brim to brim but i think that could also come out with same answer

The sensors were changed in november time i understand so maybe they had the software changed then. Might ask for an update when i take it in next. they said there was some electric harness thing that needs checking before warranty is out
