My point is I never authorised the work, in fact I explicity told them not to spend time on it.

Forgot to say they phoned me yesterday to say the battery was fully charged after an overnight charge but there was this quarter amp drain. I said then I did not want them to spend any time searching for a fault that may or may not exist.
Stick to your guns,, I have never been able to win on every job , and some go pear shaped, they are not losing 6 x £110 pounds an hour, they are losing yes, they just have to pay the engineers wage in this case and they have not picked up the £600 that they had hoped for

My earlier post was totally sarcastic in the hope that if I typed it out, then it would actually happen.
So it's your fault!
You other advice was spot on. I've just spoken to him. They have traced the drain to either the driver's seat controller or door controller. They've got another CL in there which is totally stripped down so they're going to try those units in my car to identify which one.
I have agreed a cap of three hours labour on all this investigative work up until the point they identify which controller is at fault. They've also agreed to supply a car for the weekend.
Now, what is the potential cost of either of those parts and how much labour is involved in fitting them?

The first three hours of the six. From the beginning up until the point they identify which controller is at fault I will pay no more than 3 hours labour at the discounted rate of £80 for owners of cars over six years old.
Up until the point they identify which controller is at fault. Then it is my decision whether to replace the controller at the price they quote me for parts and labour for that operation.
Sounds like you have it under control.
Keep us posted.
Update: 14:30 Monday April 14 2008
Dealer just phoned me to say they;ve located the fault, in the drivers side seat controller.
Now, I told them the only thing I was aware of that might be causing this drain, and so the only thing I had authorised them to look into, was the Easy Exit feature on the steering wheel, which has ceased working again and was not working the last time I had this battery drain.
I'm pretty sure the seat controller must also control the steering wheel. Can anyone confirm this?
