What IS this? In Glove Box.....

Can someone tell me please what on earth the white round thing is in the roof of my glove box next to the light!?
My car is a 2011 plate C250 Cdi BlueEFFICIENCY Sport Edition 125 7G-Tronic

Drink can cooler.

When the hole is in the open position, it allows cool air from the aircon to circulate inside the glove compartment.

Not sure when MB starting doing these, but I had it on my 2006 car, and now on my 2013 car, so they must have started fitting these quite a few years back now.

It's also covered in the owner's manual.

Worth noting that it always blows cold, even if aircon is set to hot air.

Had this in my petrol 1.6 X reg Astra. It was an 'oddball' grey import poverty spec one airbag 'Club' but it had Aircon, Isofix in the rear, larger wheels and a larger battery than UK model. It was badged Opel and bought brand new in 2000 by my late father in law.

Great little car that did over 100000 miles without missing a beat.
