What is this sensor

Hi
Can anyone help me please.
I want to know what the sensor in the vent pipe between crankcase breather and air intake is.
the car is an E class 220 cdi

I am trying to eliminate all the sensors for faults as the cdi unit is sending a constant signal (about 3.5volts) to the EGR, rather than a varied one - so it it not being moved.

It’s a heater element, so not a sensor at all

In short,, ice crystals can be formed which in certain circumstances can damage the turbo by ingestion.
