Hi, I have a swivel clip type thing on the lid of the boot, any ideas what it should be used for please? you can see it has a lever sitting under or behind where the lock is, it does move, also, that little square to the right of the lock, what should be in there if anything?

Where has the boot trim panel gone then ?? The clip could be for retaining the warning triangle, with the trim panel installed there are most likely two slots to take the triangle.

More ching ching, I did not realise one was missing panel that is, so that and a warning triangle! Thank you for letting me know, i had a quick look on the ebay and could see none at the moment.

Hi, I believe the squarish thing at the boot lock is an interior boot release, an American market requirement. lots of makers left the handle off, but not Mercedes, nice touch.

Further investigation would suggest that the boot of the 190 was not trimmed  But they have been seen with the warning triangle in place.

I have a Mercedes warning triangle you can have - just drop a few quid in a charity box. I'm in Preston, Lancs

Click on the forum members avatar and a box will appear with a 'start conversation' option. Probably though, you haven't sufficient posts (there's a minimum requirement) to PM as when I try the above on yours - the option doesn't show.
More posts or ask a mod for a dispensation.

Thank you Bellow!

Pip my W124 was made without a moulded finisher on the trunk lid like yours . But i did see one on the boot lid of a top of a model . I picked one up of ebay and fitted it . It finishes the boot lid off a treat . So in your case they may have been fitted to the top of the range W201 like the Cosworth.

Oh i see, well, it would be nice to have one as the lid seems quite tinny and i suspect it would deaden it down a little, not that it makes any difference but it's just a wish list item i think.

I’ve had a very early 190E , a 2.6 ( top of range ) and currently an LE ( run out model ) none have boot lid trim , and the boot always sounds tinny and clattery when closed , in contrast to the solid ‘thunk’ of my SL boot lid , or the lovely ‘snick’ of my W126 boot lid .

Some sound deadening pads would help .
