Following on my "strange notion" thread, R2 is staying for the time being and therefore I need to resume modding. The list of mods I've done is in my gallery page but what mods shall I consider next?????

A rather small, yet interesting mod would be the addition of US spec side repeater lights. They are amber in colour and are only side light and not indicator repeats as some think.
I reckon they look quite nice.

I think they look hideous!

The reason the yanks have them is because they can't style a car to save their lives

Just goes to show...................we are all different............

And there was me thinking this looked quite good........

Thanks for the suggestion, I think I remain to be convinced though....

Hi Greg,

How about:
  1. Birds Eye Maple Trim - more classy than alu-bling
  2. A C55 gear knob like the one in the pic, or a nice Brabus one like mine!
The Brabus one - here - will match the alcantara on your steering wheel...

I like both those ideas. I do quite like my Alu bling but at the right price I might be tempted....

The funny thing is on the U.S forums they are all getting euro bumper inserts to get rid of those lights lol.

I think they look dump TBH

The Brabus one will tie the alcantara steering wheel to the alu-bling trim quite nicely.

Plus the Brabus emblem lights up when the lights come on... More bling!

Part #171-817-00 - UK Price £170
BRABUS gearshift lever aluminium/alcantara

Do it! ;)

Not cheap is it!

AMG kit, Cant figure out why you dont like them! :)

Verytalldave: they are terrible! Wash your eyes!

HI Venimous....
I am a newbie so please forgive my questions.
I just purchased a C 55 and the only problem with it is the gear knob is missing the Mercedes emblem from the top.
I noticed your awesome steering wheel and gear knob and was wondering roughly what you're looking at cost wise for the both of them from a dealer? also do dealers charge much to fit them?

Here's the Brabus part no.s - all MB dealerships should be able to source these.

Try member "Partspecialist" - he may be able to get these at a better price.

Part #171-805-10 - US Price is 1795USD (£965)
BRABUS sports steering wheel ø 380 mm, bis 03/08 with BRABUS shift paddles, combination leather/alcantara, black not in connection with steering wheel heating (code 443) only in connection with steering wheel shift buttons (code 428)

The above one - 171-805-10 is the one that I have - it has the paddle shifters.

These can be configured to work with Automatics. Contact member "Richard" and he can sort that out.

Part #171-805-00- this costs about £600.
BRABUS sports steering wheel ø 380 mm, bis 03/08 combination leather / alcantara black, not in connection with steering wheel heating (code 443)

For a manual car - you need the one above.

Both will fit as a standard replacement for the W203 facelift model three spoke sports steering wheel. See Pic below.

Gear Shifter (fits 5sp and 6sp manual, and Auto)

Part #171-817-00 - UK Price £170
BRABUS gearshift lever aluminium/alcantara

The gear shifter needs to be hardwired, so it lights up.

I had both items fitted by MB Derby, but an Indy should be able to do the same.

Change the headliner to black , this allways looks good on a silver car . We redone a slk last week , recovered the head liner panels and painted the lights , mirror and sun visor parts .
