I have just won myshelf a ASUS P5GD1-VM motherboard + P4 3.4Ghz processor for a steal (IMO). :bannana:

Can anyone tell me exactly what RAM is required? Its been 4 years since I built my last PC so ive been out of the loop when it comes to RAM.

Can I put any DDR into it? what should I look for re: Speeds?

Cheers

Give me two secs and i will have the full list of the options for ram you can put in..........

According to the ASUS website the P5GD1-VM takes dual channel DDR400. Therefore you can put any PC3200 (400Mhz) DDR ram in. You can almost certainly use slower RAM too, and it will just be run at the slower speed (note not all mobos can do this). Don't use DDR2 RAM though!

KVR400X64C3A/256256MB 400MHz DDR Non-ECC CL3 (3-3-3) DIMM Get Price

KVR400X64C3A/1G1GB 400MHz DDR Non-ECC CL3 (3-3-3) DIMM Get Price
KVR400X64C3AK2/256256MB 400MHz DDR Non-ECC CL3 (3-3-3) DIMM (Kit of 2) Get Price
KVR400X64C3AK2/512512MB 400MHz DDR Non-ECC CL3 (3-3-3) DIMM (Kit of 2) Get Price
KVR400X64C3AK2/1G1GB 400MHz DDR Non-ECC CL3 (3-3-3) DIMM (Kit of 2) Get Price
KVR400X64C3AK2/2G2GB 400MHz DDR Non-ECC CL3 (3-3-3) DIMM (Kit of 2) Get Price

Using those part numbers you can buy from any source or direct from Kingston

I would also recommend corsair, particularly their twinX kits for dual channel.
