Right - for those that don't know, and if you don't where have you been:D I have a nice shiny silver SLK 320. It has the bog standard Merc single CD unit in with standard speakers(Four - two in each door) But it's just toooooooooo tinny, especially on the radio.

I do have a Blaupunkt Woodstock 52 DAB from my prev car but as the SLK aerial is in the rear bumper, don't think I can fit it in the SLK. So what would be my best option and one that aint gonna be boy racerish - or break the bank. I do miss my DAB.

Would I need to replace the exisiting speakers or will I get away with just the head unit and if I do look at speaker replacement - am I likely to make a mess of my doors and carpet etc.

Ideas please - and in very plain english - I don't do techy stuff on ICE - I fall over:D :bannana: :bannana: :bannana:

Thanks chaps

I'm not an expert in ICE at all but your DAB unit must be very nice so why not get an ICE specialist to fit and then sort the aerial for you.
Thanks m8 - problem is that the only aerial they can come up with is a windscreen mounted one that looks naff - looks like two bits of sellotape with bare copper wire running through it - not nice:( or drilling a hole and putting a bee sting on one of the rear wings - aint gonna happen;)

Hi Pammy

ooooo - errrrrr - I'll sort out my passport then - and enter counselling to get over the hills:D :D

Have dropped K & M an e-mail - will let you know what they suggest.

Must admit - we do have a pretty good in car stuff shop/fitters (independant) here in Harrogate, did a great job uninstalling the Woodstock and speakers and aerial from the MGF, but could only offer the sticky on aerial - not much else. Will see what K & M think. Thanks

Pammy, you might also care to try SQ Plus on 0161 748 1627 ([email protected]).

They did mine. They're brilliant and are top blokes too. Their place is right by the Trafford Centre so you could partake in some retail therapy whilst they were looking after your baby!!

hello pammy fellow yorkshire person

the blau is a fantastic unit so get ti fitted, its pretty easy to do tbh so it shouldent cost that much

what you may also want to do is lookign to a small 8 inch subwoffer to fit under one of the seats and some better front component speakers, if you were gonna spend the cash what sort of money would you be lookign at spending

oh yea these blokes are close to you (in west yorkshire) and ive seen there work it is amazing (that and i applied for a installers job, just waitign to hear back)

awww he backed down i was lookign forward to donning the flat cap and gettign t' wippets inot my [mumbled quietly] rover [/mumbled quietly] to fight for the yorkshire way of life and the silver car goodness (hey im unemployed, skint and in a high crime area insurance would laught if i said i wanted to insure a merc)

Hi Pammy,

Id personally start with getting the headunit installed, then your nedxt option would be to get a 8" or a 10" sub installed in the boot or as previously suggested, under the seat or ive done an install in a lotus elise with a small 8" sub just behind the drivers seat, made a big difference!

start with the headunit tho, let us know how you get on!

dont mess with the silver posse! ;)

And here I was thinking that I would allow the thread to return to the original topic (whatever it was lol). Not wishing to lower myself into a flame war. But Cur, please feel free to bring your Rover, whippets and flat cap to Gods County, My dogs bigger than yours (blows rhasperry). Offence totally intended :D :D The good Lady may be forgiven as she has a big smile.

alps, i would say to do the head unit, then uprate the fronts, then a 4ch amp then a small 8 inch sub

different people install different ways BUT there is a deal going on Resonant Engineering 8 inch subwoofers over on www.caraudiodirect.co.uk and they are very capable woofers (http://www.caraudiodirect.co.uk/product_info.php?products_id=2730)

Nice alpline headunit ,maybe even an AV unit with dvd nav ;) . nice amp in the boot for the sub behind the front seats, just like OEM.

Dyn Audio 3 way components in the front doors and a few subs behind the seats .

Why not do it yourself ;) or if you get someone to fit it you should get change from 3k easilly :) www.caraudiodiscount.com
