What should I get - Advise wanted

500 all the way, before my MPG went through the floor with a fault, we did not notice the fuel bill going up when we moved from a 3.2 litre Audi Cabriolet up to the E500.

That particular car looks lovely and when you get use to those toys, you will wonder how you managed without them.

My wife drives our 500 and does not have any issues with it, even said she missed the power when she had to use Dad's A140 when our car was being repaired.

I shied away from getting one when I was buying my W209. I agree they are much better value now.
 
Just a matter of interest what did you do about the no plate? alway woundered what to do if my car was ever to got hit. ( NOT TRYING TO HIJACK THE THREAD, JUST NOSIEY)
 
Start the process to get it on retention the moment you have your accident ...

Thats what i did , i was so worried that if it was on the car when it was written off i would lose it.
 
It was my intention to transfer it o my next car BUT...

When I had the first agreement with the insurance co for a cash settlement I advised the garage that they might as well crack on with repairs. Next day I got the letter stating CAT D so I stopped the garage but they had already ordered parts and done some labour (£1700 they told me)

Now we have reached a total loss payout the ins want the car back or £2k salvage but the garage don't want to pay that much but do want paying for work to date... etc etc....

So - Long and short of it is - Garage will take the car from the ins at £2K but will keep my reg as compensation for the shortfall.

Probably my fault for jumping the gun and half the ins for changing their story..

You live and learn..!
 
PS - Any idea how much comand would cost for a 209..? I could fit myself (I think) as I did it in the 208.
