Hi Gaz, yes alpines are ok depending which model as any speaker you only pay for you get, i myself love the focals and the old pioneers TS-C170's they where £300 about 5 yrs ago and only ran for 6 months due to there expense, Focals have a lovely crisp tweeter(sweet), mids to die for and woofer to add the bass, dont get me wrong its not subwoofer type bass, but still makes my mirrors move in my passet tdi, i bought some door builds to let me add my focals in the passat , i will be taking them out this afternoon ready for my baby(clk) on wednesday, it sounds funny , im having trouble sleeping, im like a little child at christmans eve lol... yes i know i bought the slower version , but the condition of this car and the extra's swayed me to buy it, its only a clk cab 200k 2001, but i not a fast driver as long as i can do 80's mph im happy, which i know when i took it for a test drive i put it in 6th gear at 35mph and drove with no problems, any one know the depth of the speaker need to be fitted my woofers are 68mm depth..........
