What size drift for W211 E55 Brake pad pin removal?

Does anyone know what size drift is needed to remove the brake pad pins on W211 E55?

Not the correct tool, but I've always used a nail punch to drive out the pins on numerous cars with these types of calipers.

Works great in combination with my trusty 4lb lump hammer.

The answer is 4mm.

spray the pins with plenty of penetrating spray the night before. It will help.

Have a look in your nail boxes for one with suitable dimensions--- hacksaw off the "pointy end" square and voila disposable drift ! Nice wide head to hit with the 5lb hammer.

ps be sure to wear a mask to avoid inhaling any brake dust when you start "tapping"
