looking here it mentions that to get the right springs

"IN ORDER TO DETERMINE THE REAR SPRINGS THE POINTS LISTED IN THEFOLLOWING TABLE FOR THE RESPECTIVE MODEL AND THE INSTALLED CUSTOMIZED VERSION ARE TO BE ADDED UP"

But for the life of me I can't seem to get it to work.

Can anybody help

I have the following options:

auto trans
memory seats
electric seats
high capacity battery
sound system
trailer coupling

Give the VIN number to a Mercedes dealer, they will then know the springs. Or your springs are colour coded, so look carefully and you will see the blocks of colour about halfway up. I couldn't see them on mine, so the VIN was used.

I just want to know how it's worked out.

I need to lower it after fitting 18" and I have found out that I can only go down one size on the shims and I don't think that will be enough; as I was hoping of 2 sizes :( So will probably have to go for Avangarde springs

Why do you need to lower it? For cosmetic reasons?

To work it out you need the values attributed to each element. The dealer has the table.

Ant photos of the car with new wheels?

Yes, it just looks like it has too much gap between the tyres and the arches.
But need to change the spec of the rears as I have fitted a tow bar and tow a large twin axle caravan

The table is in the link, but still can't work it out :wallbash:

Will sort out over the weekend/next week when I am off.

Start with a baseline figure of 74 for the fronts and 58 for the rears, then add on the options numbers.

Does this help explain?
