Hi all,

Just ripped the Sony CD/MP3 head unit from my old car (it's getting crushed - long story, involving: a broken timing belt, arguments with the monkeys who changed it in Jan, and taking advantage of the scrappage scheme).

Just so I know for when I get my CLK W208, what will I need to get it in there?

For example, do I need to get removal keys for the becker audio 10 CC in there at the moment or can I use cable ties to release it (as worked on my sony! - i just stuck them in the holes and they released it!)?

Will I need some kind of ISO connector or does it already have that?

Can I control the Merc CD autochanger with my new head unit?

Thanks.

You might be able to buy the convertors for the loom from any good motor factors or ice suppliers like unipart. cannot help with the removal or your cd changer, sorry!! There will be someone around soon who might be able to :-)

You will need the removal keys , they can be gotten in any good car audio store . The car will have ISO connectors fitted , this is what MB used on the Audio 10 cars . The dash display and stearing wheel buttons will nolonger work , although some top end headunits can be connected to the stearing wheel buttons using an adaptor loom . The MB CD changer on the Audio 10 cars uses D2B fibre optics to connect the the OE head unit , I dont think this can be connected to a different head unit .

Thanks so far guys.

Ok so I'm thinking that I need (or don't need) the following...

From above responses...I don't need any wiring looms or ISO connectors - Sony unit should go straight in.

Will I need an aerial adapter? Choice of possibles here: http://caraudiosecurity.com/shop/product_list/c_path/48_215_289/spd/aerial-adaptors.html

Would this be of any use re: steering controls?...

...my sony head unit is a bit old (circa 4 years) - it only has MP3 CD so not very up to date (no USB, bluetooth) - not sure about compatability. I just like how it works so I want to keep it!

The leads you linked wont work , there only for the sony controls . The raido bars in the top link are what is needed to pull the OE raido

Cheers for quick reply, again! I guess no one else is interested in the intricacies of replacing a CLK radio! Can't think why!

Do you know if I will need a convertor for the radio aerial?

Im not sure the merc raido has the flat type that push over the connector on the raido .

Yer a clever Lad shorty....:D
