What to buy if you had £20k....

Problem is with £20k you've got so much choice, how could you ever land on one car?

I'd like a W211 AMG, so wait a Range Rover, actually a Phaeton, no an S4 Cabriolet... Arrghh!!

This is very true, but although the Escort might not really make any more money it probably won't lose any either and it's far more interesting than the above lot! :p

Yes I do really like the Escrote Cossie but then again I did grow up in deepest darkest Essex, Southend-on-sea.

Ooh, I want a Delta Intergrale Evo II.

I had a MK1 RS Turbo in my yoof. Great car but I'm not sure if it's £20K

I agree, as nice as a mint car it is, I don't think I'd be getting £20k out for an old Escort :eek:

Currently I think I'd buy a 2/3 nice cars that you can change once in a while - R129 SL, an AMG perhaps, maybe another 2.3/2.5-16 - unlikely to lose much cash and plenty of variety - plus you can use them without destroying your investment :)

NSX here too.

It's a bloody long list but without hesitation if asked to pick one it'd be that.

Trouble is a nice post-facelift one is 30K...

id still love an escort cossie, but youd prob end up spending another £20k on repairs over a few years! hence practically i bought the w211 e55!;)

This is true ....

I think unless you've actually been in one , it's hard to understand how it immediately springs to mind. To most , its an old Honda ...

It's not a facelift , but this one looks nice ...

1996 P HONDA NSX COUPE AUTOMATIC 37000 MILES on eBay (end time 09-Jan-10 09:43:40 GMT)

That does look very appealing, I must admit.

I would imagine that compared to many of the options, this would perhaps be a fairly sensible proposition - usable, and also hold it's money quite well.

And from what I recall reading - not all that expensive to run compared to many exotic or older choices.

An automatic NSX?

That's sacrilege. Who'd buy such a thing?

I know , i know .....

It just looks such a lovely car bar the autobox ....

From memory aren't they relatively slow? 0-62mph in 7 seconds or so? A diesel 3 series is faster than that nowadays.

Autocar results were 5.03, yeah.

How much involvement did Senna have in the development of the 3 series?

How many 3 series did Gordon Murray drive while developing the F1 to copy the feel?

:D

If it wasn't a Mercedes. I think I'd like an Alfa 157 jtdM auto:):)
