Hi all,

As some of you may know, I've recently sold my 217,000 mile E320 CDi Avantgarde.

It has now appeared on eBay, for considerably much more than I sold it for, since it appears to have done 94,000 miles!

That's the problem with Mercedes, look after it, and it's very easy to hide the mileage.

2003 MERCEDES E320 CDI AVANTGARDE AUTO BLUE on eBay (end time 30-Jul-10 01:26:59 BST)

The car was definitely mine - it's the very same car in my avatar, Fuelly avatar (in my signature - click on it and will show the mileage of my last few fill ups!) and in my photo album!

What do you think should be done? The next buyer will be buying a clocked car, and will be paying over the odds for it. It may also changed hands since I sold it, so it may be no use hassling the current seller?

Chris.

And yet the vendor is claiming that the car has a full Mercedes service history ?

All sorts of scams now days :oI would report it

If you are 100% sure its the same car, then HPI, Police and trading standards.

You could 'buy' it from the seller and then not pay. This way no-one will get it and you wont get bad feedback becuase sellers cant leave bad feedback!

When you sold it did you write the mileage on the V5 document?

You have got to get in touch with the Rozzers about that. What a stupid trick! Don't waste your time reporting to ebay - they won't give a sh*t.

By the way - that engine bay looks a bloody sight cleaner than when I last saw it. :D

How can you be absolutely sure it's your old car?

What was the reg # when you had it?

So how do you think that he got it ?

A while back, you could buy service books from gumtree. They had the dealers stamps on them, all you had to do is fill in

I don't know, the person I sold the car to found my ad in Auto Trader, and as I've mentioned, it could have changed hands since then, so the person who bought it from me, may have sold it onto somebody else quite legitimately, and that person may have clocked it?

Yes, it did have full Mercedes service history - up to 190,000 miles.

Chris.

I've asked the seller if they can guarantee the mileage/owners etc;)

Do you have the chassis number of the car? If so we can ask the seller for it and make certain its the same one!

Edit: seller is claiming 2 previous owners in the log book so were you the second?

Would an '03 car still have the old-type service book rather than a computerised record ?

So many replies already! :thumb:

 No I didn't!!! Now I know what's it for!

It was personalised reg, hence the L-registration the seller is advertising it at.

By the way - that engine bay looks a bloody sight cleaner than when I last saw it. :D

Thanks!:o

Has both, I'm sure the dealers keep a computerised record somewhere.
