What to do when you find your old car on e-Bay and it's been clocked?!

23 osier road nottingham ng2 2nl thats the address for viewings haha

BTW when they do an MOT / issue a new one on the computer does it not show the mileage recorded at previous test? Would the garage not wonder why it is being tested when the current MOT on the car when he had it tested in July expired in April 2011.

Maybe a dodgy garage that is in on this too.

Sorry, missed this question - I'm the third owner (two previous former keepers).

In which case this is the bloke you sold it to or someone who has 'taken it off his hands'.

Time to call in trading standards et al.

Rogue traders featured a program fairly recently regarding two brothers that bought high milers, clocked them and sold them on at a large mark up.

I'm sure they would be very interested in this car. Get hold of them, they will come back to you for details.

I've mailed the seller asking when and by who it was last serviced/mileage.

And yet the vendor is claiming that the car has a full Mercedes service history ?
Very easy to get a duplicate service book with fake stamps - trust me I should know..!!! (check my post about my E55 for sale)

Have experienced it with my E55, purchased thinking it had 99,000 miles but turned out to be almost 185,000 miles. Lucky for me the car was main dealer serviced till 140,000 miles and then specialist after so drives spot on.

You should report it to Trading Standards or maybe VOSA.
Trading standards will take a note of the incident but don't do much - I tried with my car as it's a private sale and not a dealer very limited support.

It makes you wonder what they're for then.

The last service was carried out by me BTW

Just hope the muppet selling it doesn't read these forum posts!!! The git who sold me mine with a dodgy gearbox described away as a "number plate rattle" certainly did!

I wonder what will happen to the car now though? It wasn't a bad car, everything worked (except for the keyless driver's door handle), considering the mileage. Bit of a shame someone had to mess up the mileage.
Exactly the same way I feel about my car..!!!
