hey all, i have a w210 e class and really what i needed to know is what kind of comand navigation is in this car? Ive heard theres different types of navigations like comand aps or aps 50 etc?

is this true and does anyone know which one is in mine. its a 2001 registered.

ive lost the navigation cd so i wanted to get a new one and dont know which system it is. also if i buy a cd of the interenet will i be able to copy it for backups and use that backup in the comand system?

ive attached a picture of the nav so you know what im talking about

You need a DX type navigation disc from Teleatlas (can be bought from lots of different vendors and also from their own shop)

While it is sometimes possible to backup the navigation discs I could never recommend using copies. The head is quite sensitive to dust in the COMAND unit and minor scratches, poor-quality CDRs etc can upset it. I've had much more success with genuine discs and they can often be found, second hand on ebay (do not be tempted by copies, genuine discs can be quite cheap!) when owners have recently upgraded to newer discs.

Full price for a UK disc from Teleatlas is just over £100 IIRC.

Just to extend Shude's post, the COMAND system you picture is called Comand 2.0

You can buy the disk from MB dealer, and they have a "special" disk with the 2008/2009 maps and the Merian Scout travel guide at somewhere north of £200

Or you can buy the latest disk (released last week) which is 2009/2010 maps and no travel guide (not from MB dealer) which is £113.99 RRP + postage (thats the UK+IRL disk with a major roads of western europe disk also).

Dont pay £113.99.
