What was the first car you drove and what car did you officially learn to drive in?

I'm just interested to see what cars people first drove.

The first car I ever drove off road was a Citroen GS Estate at 14 years old, but I formally learnt to drive in a pretty knackered Escort Mk2.

First drive at 13, Granada Scorpio on a caravan site.

First legal drive, Mum's VW Polo and driving school Fiesta.

First car I "drove" was my Dad's Vauxhall Victor when I was about 12 - (off road of course!) but I learned properly in my Mum's Datsun 510 (which I later got as a pressy for passing my test first time! :bannana:

First car I drove was at 17 and was a VW Polo, I learnt to drive in a Vauxhall Chevette, my first car was a Ford Cortina MKIII 1.6XL (Wish I had it still now :()

First car I drove off road was a 1938 Standard 8 on a farm, First car on the road and the one I passed my test in was a 1962 Austin Healey sprite.

First drive was at around 14-15 in my Granddad's Datsun 120y around the private car park where our workshop was. I saw a police car that looked like it might be turning into the car park and quickly put the car back outside the workshop. My shirt was stuck to my back with sweat. :o

My instructors car was also a Datsun (so was that of his brother-in-law who took me for my test).

Then I was let loose in a vehicle that had the exact same aerodynamic door handles as a Scimitar GTE SE6. It was the company Morris Marina 1.3 van, which not long after I started driving it needed a new engine (and rear diff, but that's another story). :o

1954 Austin A40 Somerset. It was the first car I bought, the first car I drove, the car I learnt to drive (brother and friend were my instructors) in and the car in which I took my one and only car driving test (in 1964).

First drive when I was 15?? In my dad's escort 1.1L, learnt to drive in Mazda323.
My first car was Hillman Avenger, then Citroen GS .

my moms mini clubman estate on brean sands..14 yrs old, first car 1966 mini cooper...wish I had it now!!!

Drove the family volvo 244 quite regularly on private land from age 9, progressed to dads then 1 year old W124 200E aged 11. Can't believe I was trusted at that age!

Back to the volvo for driving practice on the road when i hit 17 and it then became my first car.

First car I drove off road was a 1938 Standard 8 on a farm, First car on the road and the one I passed my test in was a 1962 Austin Healey sprite.
First car I 'drove' was also a Standard 8, (Registration HKC338!!) but I was aged about 7. Fed up of waiting for my Dad, I sat in the drivers seat, turned the key and pulled the starter knob. It was in gear.............

But on the road, legally, a 100E Anglia, Dad's again. Learned 'properly' in 1964, courtesy BSM, in a Mk1 Cortina. Had an A-H Frogeye Sprite (my 4th car!) at age 19, hence quoting previous post.

My dad taught me to drive when I was 8 in a ford cortina estate (in silver :-) ) a decision I think he regretted a few yearas later but thats another story of misspent childhood.

I had lessons at 17 in a metro and passed my test in it.

First drive was Dads Wolseley 1500 (which I hoped he would give to me when I passed my test but he traded it in for £15 for a Mk2 Cortina)
Started learning to drive in a Vauxhall Viva but my instructor went independent part way through my course of lessons. He bought an older Viva Estate which I completed my course in

First drive in a yellow 1982 Astra 1.3L when I was 16 down the long drive of a Farmhouse we rented in France.

My driving instructor's car was a Nissan Sunny 1.6.

Passed my test in my Dad's brand new 1987 Renault 21TS after my driving instructor told me to defer and wouldn't take me in his car.

I learn't to drive at around 10 and passed in a bsm corsa that a mate used to work for after taking it for a spin before the test.

First drive was the car I learned in - Talbot Horizon. I hadn't even sat behind the wheel of a car until I had my first lesson (at age 23!!!) - until I needed to learn and have a car for my work, I had no interest in cars.

Once I got driving, I suddenly became a whole lot more interested (and it isn't diminishing with age!!).
