Terracotta Mk2 Escort[with yellowish bonnet - original was toooooooooooo rusty] and rusty front wings - my Grandad bought it and my G/F [now 20years later, my wife] said "it's me or the car" I chose the car and she saw sense.

Cost him £250 - Thanks Grandpa!

Sadly, there's little need to mask the number plate:( .

First car was an Austin Allegro, bought from a car auction.

After a week it was back in the auction making a loss, having discovered a bad petrol tank leak and also having pulled the handbrake out of the floor due to rust. Very dangerous - couldn't wait to get rid.

They say you live and learn - well i certainly did, thats for sure!

BMW Isetta bubble car VNP 227

Tiny and 80 mpg. Green before my time!

2.0L sport capri. Gold with recaro seats. I felt just like Bodie and Doyle (How sad) - Reg was A00 55S.

Mercedes 300SL brand new from the dealer (dinky)

1971 Mercury Comet V8 302 cu.in (5.0 litre)

Those were the days, when an 18 year old could insure a car like that for £250 a year!

a 2 litre cortina estate.......after learning in a mini!!!

Similar to me - my first car was a Cortina 2.0GXL. 1972 model, which I bought in 75 - ermine white with black vinyl roof.

I learned in a driving school Vauxhall Viva - hard work as it was incredibly underpowered, and my Dad's Mk2 Cortina.

I clearly remember my dismay in 1995 when my then employer had a bit of a re-jig with the company car policy and I ended up with a Mondeo 2.0GLX - so I'd made zero progress in 20 yrs! It was a nice car to drive though.

Vauxhall Chevette(1.3) with a 2300HS bodykit in silver. Horrendous car, cost me £80(in 1986) and was only just worth it!

First car was a 1986 Mini Mayfair. I loved it and spent £££s on it making it look like new.

i wish i still had it as the value of these things are up at the moment!! From checking the dvla site with the reg it appears its now been scrapped :(

derek

1948 Austin 10 followed very quickly with a Wolsley 6/80, those were the days, the 6/80 used/lost a gallon of oil every 20 miles.

gary

Mk2 Ford fiesta 1.6d did 15,000 miles in 2 1/2 months and got rid after 4 months as the long distances meant that being 6ft 4 I had to be helped out after a long journey with a seixed back!

My first car was an Alfa Romeo Alfasud Sprint Veloce. I would love to drive it again. The handling was superb, the exhaust note crackled with the Boxer engine-it was to die for.

If only the bodywork had been as good as the engineering....

My second car was another Alfasud Sprint Veloce, but even faster and with improved anti rust treatment.

Sadly, if I found the car again it would not live up to my memories.
