You can laugh now, Fiat 125p or as it was called in 1985: FSO 1500, produced in Poland. Something like the one on picture below, but mine was pimped up with interior from different Polish car - Polonez ;-) 55bhp, RWD, no power steering or any other mod cons. Had it for about 6 months until it was stolen. Who would believe that someone will be interested in 15 years old car like this. Found it via previous owner who recognised it on a street being driven on different plates. Unlucky for "new owner", he lived in the same town as previous owner, so it all ended in court and prosecution. I never got the car back, as with storage cost at police car park and some parts being stolen while there, it wasn't worth it. Car had to stay there during the court case and it all took more than a year. After that, I turned into more modern cars.

I did have a couple of other Minis, a 1275gts back in '84/85. (That's it parked outside the front of the house with my son standing next to it).

And more recently a 1989 Mini "Anniversary Edition" parked in the drive with my Rover 75 Club SE.

My Dad had a Fiat 124 Special T.

It was a bit of a goer in it's day, my Mum used to enjoy racing old red faced farmer types in it, they were furious with her.

1960 morris mini . tartan red and a subsequently black painted roof......well we all wanted a cooper really!

Morris 1100 in British racing green. Even remember the reg: OPW288F
First bike, Yamaha FS1E JEX226N :D

First car for me was a Vauxhall Magnum 1800,gold with a black vinyl roof,it was a bit crusty around the rear arches so i repaired them and repainted the car in burgundy coach paint,
If i remember right i think the reg was SEH 488N.

1968 Vauxhall Victor FD, column change, bench front seat.

It taught me how to use fibreglass and filler, and do a passable job with a rattle can

OK for a laugh I'll post my first car

This is a reliant supervan - I kid you Not !

There was some method in my Madness. I bought this in 1970 at the age of 16 and drove it on a motorcycle licence. The object was to learn to drive. I simply got in it and drove without having a single lesson unless you count steering around a field in my dads car sitting on his lap. At 17 I passed my test first time without ever having had a formal a lesson so it served it's purpose.

My first real car was one of these. It was great car if a bit soft in the corners . Reason for choosing a Humber Sceptre was it had the same twin carb engine as the Hunter GT but much cheaper insurance. Overdrive on 3rd and 4th gave it long legs and meant the speedo could be made to show 120mph on that downhill section of the M62.

One snowy night in Norfolk it ran a conrod bearing which welded the shells to the crank journal. That was an engine out job, crank re-grind and conrod repair, all for £25 and then put back together. Happy days

Loved Humber Sceptres, the poor mans Rolls Royce.

My first car was a 1974 Ford Cortina 2000E.

Renault 5 TC in optional silver paint - 956cc of raw power. Couldn't afford a car really but this was available new on interest free finance for about £99/month, iirc. Went through brake pads like they were made of butter, and the engine pinked badly - the dealer never did manage to solve that, and I chopped it in a year later for a vauxhall cavalier 1300.

They were awful!! I had those as company cars, followed by Itals in the early 1980's

I passed my bike test on my 17th birthday & my car test on my 18th birthday. Swapped my last bike for a reliant supervan as the owner couldn't drive it on his bike licence as it had a reverse gear. Mine had rear side windows & a rear bench seat. Together with a hole in the roof where someone had removed an aerial.

Bikes followed by a 3 wheeler certainly taught me to look for road hazards.

You're right about the Marina relatively quick in a straight line but didn't like any corner

1990 Rover 214Si with the K series little engine. It was on and off in the second part of the dozen years i drove it but a very enjoyable drive nevertheless.

1965 Fiat 500D
Fitted the later 126 650 engine and gearbox.
Bought the 126 from the guy that owned the Desperado Hot Rod.

At the tender age of 17 years old I bought a 1964 MGB roadster for £399 in Southend. The registration was FMT 436B iirc, pull door handle and 3 bearing engine! worth a penny or two nowadays.....

Mark 4 Escort van, RST recaros, dog legs and a booming system.

Was everyone's friend at school as the locks didn't work and anyone could climb in the back and get up to whatever took their fancy ;)

Every Saturday morning had to clean out the fag butts, rizlas, dirty knickers and other "unmentionables" that people had left in it before my old man drove it !!!!

My Dad had a Fiat 124 Special T.

It was a bit of a goer in it's day, my Mum used to enjoy racing old red faced farmer types in it, they were furious with her.

My Dad had one too. I borrowed it to go on holiday, towing my FIL's caravan.

Nearly wrote the outfit off, when I forgot I was towing, as the Fiat's performance with the van on the hook was at least as good as my 1159cc HB Viva solo, and went to overtake a truck.....

D reg rover 213s, yes the s is important (12 valve)

Would put a photo up but think they’ve all rusted away nowadays

it had lasting effect, that I bought the Indian version in India and kept it for about 5 years.(Hindustan Contessa) The Toolings for the Victor was sold to Hindustan Motors, same as the Rover SD1 was. both cars where well liked but were years behind the influx of the Japanese, Korean cars coming in.
