What wheels for my newly acquired W124 E500?

Actually I'm with the other guys here, they do look good and I really don't like later wheels on early cars. Something about those just look right, but that's such a clean W124 with a de chrome that the car itself looks a lot younger than it actually is.

I'd be interested to see if they looked right on a W124 which still has all the chrome trim.

keeping it original how about a set of Evolution wheels like the run out E500 EVOLUTION model. Here's a pic of them in action on a silver w124

Although often referred to as Evolution (after the 190 Evo II) they're actually called "Ceginus", and were also used on the E500 Limited:

(pic from the recent GTG) and the R129 Mille Miglia special edition. I have them on my R129.

I rest my case - the newer wheel suits it much better IMHO. The Ceginus looks far better on the 190

It's all very subjective but it's a real tribute to the purity & depth of the design of these cars that we're debating wheel design / suitability twenty years on

No-one will be debating Kia / Fiat / Nissan / etc wheel designs in 2028 but we have strong opinions about classic Mercedes designs of twenty years ago

The legacy of Bruno Sacco and his design team, and other great designers, won't fade. The same can't be said for 99% of current designs, I suspect
