Hi Guys

Going to see a 1997 R reg facelift C200 Elegance Auto in blue/black with beige cloth. It is a one owner car with FSH from MB with 66000 miles on the clock. What I would like to know is how much would you offer for a clean low mileage example? Looking around on various ads, most W202's seem to be in the hand of traders and there are 2 extremes with high mileage good condition examples being offered for banger money and the immaculate low mileage ones for silly money!

To me it's worth £1500-2000.

But the classic quote 'it's worth what someone is willing to pay for it' is very true for a car like that.

If it's mint with no rust, working air con, recently serviced with decent tyres etc then perhaps upto about £2k. If it has rusty bodywork bits, not mint and perhaps needs a few small job doing then perhaps £1k.

But at the end of the day, you're the one buying the car - you need to decide what you're happy to pay for it :)

It is a mint example with working aircon, going to make an offer for £1500 which i think is reasonable. The other choice i have is a S reg BMW 520i auto in black for around the same money but with 98k on the clock and FSH. I prefer my Mercs but the Mrs likes the BMW. Having driven the E39 series i do like the way they drive. Tough choice to make!!!

If I were faced with the same choice, I think I would unfortunately choose the E39. They are superb cars.
