Just behind the fuel tank is a small plastic tank about 4 inches by 8 the same stuff as the main tank. It has a small electric pump with hosing on it. One side goes into the little tank the other end has nothing on it. Can anyone tell me what it is ? And perhaps why it's not connected to anything. It looks quite like the reserve tank that was on my R5 Turbo:(

A 638 V Class surely pre-dates AdBlue.

Does the tank have an M-B part number on it?

Whats Adblue ? I'll look it up now but whotsit anyway ? I didn't see any number on it though i didn't spend too long looking at it because i was changing the brake pipes. I was really just following some of the old pipes cut of when the air suspension was changed when i saw the little tank had pipes that were not going anywhere. I will look for numbers when i am changing the brake pads next week. Maybe a picture aswell. It looks original, i tried finding it in wis but that comes up blank for lots o stuff. Could it be a reserve ?

Roflol, Adblue ? I'm probably lucky my car was built with a steering wheel ! But thanks anyway for the suggestion Matt. Whats the Robpow bit ?

A tank which holds a 'reserve' from the vacuum pump so that anything that uses vacuum (central locking etc) can continue to be used a few times after the pump has stopped working.
A bot like the air tanks on a lorry.

Oh ok, I'm reading this on a phone so perhaps I have missed an important bit of information regarding the vehicle in question... :)

My username is just something I came up with at the spur of the moment, I'm not really a POW :)

Matt

If its for expansion why would it have a motor/pump attached. Maybe it was for the air suspension ? That was removed years ago. So possibly is a vacuum accumulator
