Just going through the iPhone and I found this which was taken on the M25 on the Bucks/Herts stretch a couple of weeks ago.

It was covered in various antennae, the most prominent of which was the white one on the back. There are some others but haven't come out as well but you can see them if you look closely. Is it some kind of survey? Mobile signals, perhaps. Just wondered if anyone can give a definitive answer:dk:

Not a definitive answer by any means, but I'm going for Plod.

Loads of aerials are a clue in that direction, plus I have seen many Plod Range Rovers with telescopic antennas on the roof which look very much like that one.

Unless of course this guy likes dinghies, and that is actually a small outboard motor!

It looks a lot like a re-radiating antenna for GPS - they are designed to help other units receive a GPS signal.

If thats what it is though, I don't know... It's possible the car is used as an extender when parked up somewhere for some use or another.

I'd go with s88. It's a car being used to generate maps for GPS systems.

Mapping. I thought that when I saw it but as it looked like the have first generation Tom-Tom on the right of the dash (you can just about make it out in the photo) I dismissed that as a theory as I assumed they'd have something more up to date.

It's probably the next phase of taxation... taxation per mile..

They have to have something to start from..... :dk:

It could be a coin operated council run pool car.
