Friend of mine has salvaged a nice W211 Estate with the 7 seat option.

He doesn't need it. Is this worth selling on? And what is involved in the kit? Presume it's not just the actual seat unit itself?

yes i think it would be worth selling on - there are often posts here about people wanting to fit the extra seats.

you'll need the seats, belts & bolts, and surrounding trim that the belts go into.... and the floor trim etc. Anything that the seat is attached to that would look odd without it really. i believe W210's and W211s also have cupholders in the rear aswell? if so these aswell i guess

I have the 7-seater (invaluable!!) but I'm afraid to say it's a bit more involved than that. There is also a list of trim items which are specific to the 7-seater. The side trims over the wheel arches have the access slots for the belts, as do the headlining panels on each side of the roof adjacent to the rear-most windows - for the top belt mounts.

I would assume that the S211 bodyshell itself would always have the mounts in the roof for the top belt fixings, for continuity of vehicle production, but I'm not taking mine apart to find out what is involved there!!

You might also need to look at the boot floor/spare wheel stowage area, as the 7-seater also has I believe a unique arrangement for this.

Hope this helps.

As stated, the surrounding trim is different, but as long as you take the actual finishing trims from the holes for the seatbelts, the person fitting them can easily cut the holes and fit the finishing trim. This is providing they have the guts and steady hand for the job...
