Whats is this part called on an M156 engine?

I am a new proud owner of an E63 M156 wagon. I have a question, what is this part? It has surface corrosion and is a sight for soar eyes. Could some kind soul tell me what this part is as I'm considering replacing the pair with new parts as I don't like seeing the surface corrosion which bugs me.

Camshaft adjuster solenoid, exhaust camshaft.

As mentioned previously Camshaft Aduster Solenoid. Had mine replaced at the same time as all 4 Camshaft Adjusters.

You have two more, lower down, that serve the intake camshafts. They are less obvious

Thanks so much. Is the solenoid a one sided part or they work either side?

Speaking of camshaft adjusters, I have seen steel plates on ebay, has anyone modified the stock adjusters with the steel plates? Is this a good idea? This is the route I'm thinking of. Also im dreading the head bolts, hope it's been replaced at some point in its time.

Ahh okay, so 4 solenoids altogether. I didn't see the others at the bottom. Thanks
