What's it likely to cost to repair this C43?

Given it's price I'm quite interested in this low mileage C43 (75k), but the present owner has been very honest about it's body condition.

1998 MERCEDES C CLASS C43 AMG AUTO SILVER | eBay

The ad says:

"The exterior is starting to suffer with rust. The areas affected include most of the inner wheel arches, o/s wing, o/s door, o/s/lower rear quarter, lower boot lid and around lock, n/s/f door (lower), small area on the bonnet just above the grille."

Can someone please give me idea what that would cost to put right so that it'll stay right for another 10 years. Just a ball park upper and lower limit will do nicely.

Thanks :thumb:

i would say even more you might as well get a whole body re-spray and do under the side skirts if she is that bad as described

the car would be worth top money then

sweetpea at first glance i thought that was a young CH Spurgeon in your pic

Notice it's a trade sale with no buy it now price. The body doesn't look too bad in the pictures. Perhaps by focussing a buyers attention on cosmetic rust it would divert their attention from other areas such as engine brakes and transmission which are all expensive items on this type of car.?

Hmm, if its rusty in all those (easily visible) places, what's it like where you can't see? No pics of the bottom eh.....

Under the sills will be the biggest job, I can guarentee that they will be rotten juding by what else needs doing...

yeah, i'm with Karl on this one.... and if that needs any welding, then your estimate is out of the window !

early service history is patchy
12.04.2001 with 18491 miles at Tony Purslow Ltd Mercedes Benz
to
18.09.2003 with 51152 miles at Auto-Tec Mercedes Specialists
and last proper recorded service was 2008 .... if that is an indication of how it's been looked after, i'd be looking carefully at it too.

no close ups of the possible problem areas, infact all pictures taken so as not to really give any information

rust on arches comes from the inside out, by the time you can see it, it is a serious problem !

i'd avoid this one to be honest, alarm bells ringing in the back of my head for some reason !

Every single W202 C180 Elegance I see has immaculate arches :S

Mine's going in similar areas, and I've had quotes from 1400-2600. I need one repair panel (rear arch) and 2 new wings, ideally.

That also included a front end blowover for 150K miles' worth of stonechips, to be fair.
