whats it worth Advice plse

Kingo30 - You were the one who hoped Guido choked on his sigh - not I. At no point was I rude to you. Like you I expressed an opinion, mine, that's it.

I sincerely hope you get as much money for your car as possible however, like Guido, I felt you would struggle in the current climate. If someone like Gareth comes to view your car you may well get what you want for it:)

Anything being sold is only worth what the BUYER will pay for it.

you misunderstood me mattc, i was not having a go at your post just pointing out why i said choke on it, if he had been more polite then this post would not have ended up like a kids playground, i just ask for politeness thats all. your last comment is what ive been saying all along

have you any advice on a good caravan around the £13000 - £14000 mark needs to sleep at least 5 ???

Sorry no, not looked at new vans for a few years now - very happy with the one I've got!

Take a look at the latest range of Bailey caravans.

Not been a fan before but the Pagaent Series 7 really is a corker, and £14k would get you a nice twin axle - less if you go for their slightly cheaper range.

We're considering one ourselves.

The benefit of a twin axle is stability when cruising, but to be honest if you get an full-size SUV - and you probably will need to if you're going for a large caravan - then a single axle with an Alko stabliser would be fine.

If you've not towed before, manouvering a twin-axle caravan can be a little trickier with a car attached, not just using manpower, so worth bearing in mind if you're new to it.

Yup if you have a good match then a single axle is fine. If I accidentally stray above 60 my 1500 kg single-axle is totally stable. But ... it's always well loaded, has a stabilising hitch, and fully laden is only a 71% weight match. My vehicle also has good rear suspension, a high trailer noseweight limit, and a short rear overhang - all things you want for stability.

I would strongly recommend fitting Tyron bands on a single axle though (many manufacturers offer this an an option - if they don't then the supplying dealer will usually organise it). These prevent the tyre coming off the rim if you have a blowout ... scroll down to the "Caravan" section here:

Im not slating anyone if you read it all you would see were the sigh as though im a fool come from

The sigh was from me, because on two occasions I made a specific point about the relationship between a fast sale and the sales price. You ignored that specific point twice to go off a tangent, which is why I decided it wasn't worth pursuing it any further.

I'm sorry if you don't like people's opinions being different. I was just trying to make a helpful point and I did wish you luck with your sale. The only thing I got in return is something about driving rust buckets. Not very helpful or respectful that was.

My two cents, added to that is that King30 sounded a bit annoyed at Guidos opinion as if it was his fault his car is worth less than King30 would have hoped. I did also read the thread and found King30's response to Guido's opinon unneccessary impolite. After all when one asks for an opinion can't blame the man for giving his opinion.

I did not ignore it and new exactly what you ment re sale prices and selling it fast, all i was trying to say is that yes i could put it up for £4995 and it may well fly out the door but then again I could put it up for £6495 and it may still fly out the door as there are people who are willing to pay a bit more than the average selling price to get something that is a bit more than an average clk, I new you thought I was going off at a tangent but im just trying to say selling a car is not always about the average selling price, cars are individual and as such should be judged on what they are. There are a lot of people out there who buy cars not just mercedes who like to have one that is pristine condition and sometimes pay over the average price to get the right one for them.

No you have all got me wrong i was not annoyed at the fact he thought i was asking to much it was the *sigh* as if i was a fool, if he thought i was going of on a tangent then he should just have left it there and telling me to take a reality check, i think i am being realistic when i state people will often pay that much more to get what they want.

Time will tell who is right or wrong on an asking price for a car.

Actually I find it quite funny how this post has gone on and on seems quite a lot are following it. perhaps we should start a section for bitching at each other lol.

were did you advertise Vlad, having thought about it I am willing to sit on mine for 2 months and if nothing consider my options then as thats when the insurance runs out.

If you want to come up with a financial argument for not having one, you could paint a pessimistic picture based upon:

Insurance - not cheap on a twin-axle caravan, certainly with your suggested value. Probably £400 plus.

Mobility - budget for a motorised mover. Probably £1500 plus.

Storage - If you don't have somewhere to keep it, you probably need to budget £500 plus per annum for storage - more for secure facilities.

Towbar - If not fitted to your next car £350

Servicing - Budget £250 plus per annum

Depreciation - Budget £2k per annum plus (although you'd be unlucky to lose that much assuming you didn't sell it back to a dealer straight away).

Hope that helps!!
