Hi all

We are looking possibly to change our w220, maybe for something like an R class, not sure yet. I could do with knowing what people think it is worth to make an informed choice. Only got the one pic right now:-
DSC00020-1.jpg

She's a 2000w s430 lwb. Chalcedony blue with black leather. 65k historied miles, my father in law bought it new and we took it from him so two owners inc. us. It has almost every option there was:-
Climate front and rear
Sunroof
Distronic
Heated and cooled front and rear electric seats
Rear roller blind
Reclining rear seats
Folding mirrors
TV prewire, Comand, Installed Nokia armrest phone with linguatronic (we use a separate sim for it), CD changer (not working)
18" Staggered Difda alloys

She needs a B service in about 4k miles and two back tyres. Wil certainly need pads, possibly discs. We had the arches painted when we got it as MB wouldn't play ball (a service was missed by 3 months as both the in-laws had cancer so priorites ended up skewed). We've done 25k trouble-free miles in her.

I would call her condition 1 or high 2.

Really interested in what she is worth as she is a special car, but the lack of 7 seats is becoming too much to bear.

We love the car to bits.

If there is any interest in her pm me and I will create a separate thread to keep within forum rules of course.Thanks.

Based on my own S-Class experience and a quick look on Autotrader, Ebay and PH and I reckon you're looking at about £5-6K

When I was looking for SWMBO I got offered a MY2000 with 73K for £4000, wanted a bit of work, rust in the usual places but I reckon I could have got it back mint for £800 -£1000 didn't buy it as it would not fit in her parking space at work and hence how we got the A8

A ten year old car with large petrol engine needing mechanical work plus parts and with home-done paintwork; larger engined variants are available, as are diesels. There's a recession happening and money is tight for many people. The sentiment you have for it is worth nothing to the next buyer and the trouble-free miles are the past, not the future.

Sorry to rain on the parade, but be realistic in your pricing; autotrader doesn't show the value, only the asking prices. Be prepared for disappointment.

I would've said closer to 3-4k if that. There is alot of choice when it comes to those kind've cars, 540i's, s6's, s8's 740i's 745's, s500's.... and with the decline in interest for large petrol engined cars... it wont help either.

Listening to what you are saying but I'd like to point out that the paintwork was done to a hery high standard by an Aston-Martin approved bodyshop, whose work IMHO is better than the MB approved one anyway.

My apologies on that, but please bear in mind my other comments- not meant to be critical, just preparing you for the worst.

Hi guys I have a similar problem.

I've got my fathers 2004 s430 LWB to sell. He is reluctant to sell and I can see why, but hes looking at the new shape in a diesel and we will be sharing cars so its probably going!

Having been driving it, it is a gob-smackingly good car, engine, everything. Problem obviously is that it acheives an average of 20-22 mpg in town, and not much more on the motorway!

Even with the fuel economy I'd be tempted to keep it but the LWB barely fits on my driveway, I am 29, and I do back-streets in London. Hence I only end up using the Merc on weekends.

This one has the 7 speed gearbox (just spent £3100 getting the thing repaired). Its got full service history but not from MB.

Its got the newer headlamps (not opaque), soft close doors, DVD - need to work out what the other extras are!!!

Have been valued 7k from we buy any car (very crude valuation) logic dictates that it must be worth a fair bit more? What do people think and will the diesel drive as well as this 4.3 petrol?

Does it have ISOFIX? Can you give me a call on 07766 532586 (I am in Central London). Cheers

The used car market is all over the place at the moment. I'm looking for a late S211 Estate and similiar age vehicles with similar spec and mileage vary over £4000, that is way too much difference I M O.

Saw a one owner, 2001 S500L with rear blinds (nice!) last night. 46,000 miles back up by the service book and MOT's. That has not sold and he wants £6950 but I feel there is quite a bit of room for movement.

Was very very very tempted but really want lingatronic and if possible, distronic.

From what I can see, the W220 values are dropping pretty rapidly and filling the spaces previously occupied by the W140's, of which there are very few on the market (thanks Mr Scrappage Scheme) and they are mostly junk.

Add to that the wallet crippling bills that the W220 can come up with and that may explain what is happening.

Reviving this thread again because having driven this car for over a year myself I am getting another hand-me-down from Dad.

A year has passed (and 20k of mileage) so I am wondering what I should market this car and (and actually sell it) for. The car is in excellent condition with 115k on the clock.

Actually thinking about holding onto the car because dads is the diesel and I do prefer the petrol, and I just like my car however I am a tad worried, not about the road tax but the repairs that may result from not driving the car reguarly enough? Advice needed :dk:

Isnt it weird how things happen? I was thinking about this (mine - I am the OP) car just last night - first time in ages. Then this thread pops up.

Peter, quite frankly in the current climate, God knows what it is worth. 20p? £5k ? I have no idea. What I do know is, i should have kept the S and spent some money on it. It would have been almost "bangernomics" compared to it's ill-fated successor.........

It's tough for me because I have maintained the thing! I am wondering if I will drive it now I'm getting a 2008 s320? I will miss the v8 if I sell it.

As fate would have it I got rear ended at the lights today. Only minor damage but it will need a new rear bumper which will need spraying so I won't have it for a couple of weeks... Trying to get my mate to buy the car then at least if I sell on the cheap I will feel better about it!!! I'm thinking with it's condition and being a facelift 7k is a sensible level?

What did u buy?

A lovely q7, which I then tried to move on this year. Took five months and lost a ****** fortune :(
