What's new in comand DVD 6 (E-class etc)?

Does someone on here have the inside info on what is new in Comand DVD 6?

Dealer says its coming out in June with "significant new function" but will not tell me what the new stuff is!

My E280CDI has 5.0 and the traffic jam/dynamic route stuff is nice BUT full postcodes plus user POIs would be great (having come from the £200 Tomtom One).

No idea but also waiting. Have come from TomTom 5 on my PDA & hope to get an import ability from the GATSO/SPECS lists and speed limit advisories. All my dealer would say was that TMC would be improved.

Version 6 or 5.1

You guys are asking about what's new in Version 6 of the Navigation DVD for the W211. The link below implies that Version 5.1 is just being released.

comand update for Ireland

Hi all, Im a lucky recent owner of a new CLK. I had the comand system fitted in the garage in the UK after delivery. It has worked ok except in areas where there are roadworks and recently opened roads etc. For instance I found out that the new midlands express toll route is not on the cd. I suppose thats to be expected. My version (which was fitted in February 06) is navteq cd 2.1 harman becker. I am shortly going to bring the vehicle back to Ireland and I have noted that the nav map seems non existent for areas outside Dublin and quite out of date for many Dublin routes. I called a MB garage in Dublin to find out if a CD is available for Ireland and they were extremely unhelpful to say the least and really uninterested in helping me out. Does anyone know if there is a cd available with southern Ireland mapped properly..? what updated versions are available..? I would be grateful for any advice.

Welcome! It seems to me that what U need is Nav Disk 6.1 whic is available and it is the most recent update for A/B/C/CLK users having Comand aps installed. It is a DVD not a CD though...

Hi Margaret; are you sure that yours is a CD-based system, and not a DVD system? COMAND-APS uses DVDs, and that is what is fitted to new CLKs by MB. If your system really uses CDs, then it's the older COMAND, not COMAND-APS, and so isn't strictly the correct unit for your new CLK.

DVD Version 2.1 is very old; the current DVD version for the CLK is 6.2, B6 782 3674 / A169 827 36 59.

Yes I can confirm that the latest DVD version for the CLK is 6.2.

I checked out the system and yes it is comand aps with a dvd not a cd. The version i have is 2.1 and the date on the dvd is 2004. It would appear that they gave me a very old dvd and it sounds from reading on this site that I should have been given at least version 5.0 which was available since 2005. I intend to discuss this with the garage as I paid a considerable sum to have the system fitted in February. Thanks for all advice I am certainly more informed now!!
