What's the difference?

Is there a marked difference between the 1.8l and 2.0l in the 190 and/or the W202 C-class? Are they the same units in both models?

Thanks for that. I should have clarified. What's the difference in the real world? Is the power difference noticeable? Is one smoother, more economical, more reliable than the other?

1.8 in the W201 suffers head gasket issues.

I'd always go for the 2 litre in the W201, it's a nicely smooth, torquey engine and no less economical in real life.

No idea about the W202.
