What's this cable ? Behind ashtray W220

Hi

I'm in the process of making an aux in for my comand 2.5.

When I popped out my ashtray I found this cable just hanging about.

Anyone know what it's for? It's attached to the loom for the ashtray and cigarette light.

I'm after a pair to wire up a hidden 12v female socket to run my iPod charger, so id like to use this if possible, but it's curiously close to the front airbag box and I don't want to put a tester over the end of it and launch a bag...

Hmm illumination seems to be taken care of by some wires from the larger loom for the ashtray plug. There's nowhere else in the ashtray area to receive this cable that I can spot

I think MB used a standard wire loom with connections in place for all options . So if a manual car it could be the wire for the auto transmission lock out . My car has no massaging seats or rear seat heaters but the wire is still in place . So they are more than likely used for another model .

Yeah that's what I'm thinking. Ill man up and see what voltage is coming out of it when the ignition is on.

Now to install the apple ipod dock
