That's what it looks like to me. Something like that or some other trainer that snaps into place to keep something closed.

Its made of spring steel .I found this just below the armrest whilst i was fitting in a new cubby box ..

It may not be from the car. I once bought a vw polo and found a pair of black crotchless knickers in the boot. I was only young and thought it was a cargo net. I found out it wasnt everytime i put apples in there and they'd roll out.

Steady on chap, humor's is important ! Nobody's putting you down. It looks likes a previous owner has fixed something and chucked that in the armrest, I really wouldn't worry.
