That will be the giggle pin retaining clip. I would get it replaced before the laughing shaft moves out of line with the chuckle gears

Isnt this one of the securing clips that keep the hoses onto the turbo charger, i am sure my W211 has this...

Holbay thanks for coming back to me, i had given up on this post due to little boys that know nothing .You know the type who like to make fun of every thing possible.
I dont know why it would be in my car W124 260E just under the arm rest . At the time i thought it was a part from inside the rest but after looking inside i dont think it is. I have had the car some years now and for this to just show up is uncanny .It was found as i was fitting a new seat cover.

It is like it in some ways - one for the road . Other than the open end part has these loops ..And i dont know why it would be in my car .Unless the mot chap had it in his pocket, i dont know. No one but my self , and the war depot [wife] have been in it .
