Mine is 2,500 - which I believe is normal for this engine/gearbox but I still think is slightly high - probably the result of having a four-cylinder 180K rather than a torquey V6 or a diesel.

My 94 and 95 300Ds 124s sit at around 3000 the 24v D slightly less than the 12v's.

All four speed boxes BTW.

Mine shows an an indicated 2200 at 70mph

2100 for the CLK55 AMG

About 2200 on mine...

80 has both dials pointing straight up, and that 2500, so 2200 for 70 is about right for it.

Not had the car too long, but I am sure on motorways with cruise on it was below 2000rpm

Wood burners all, but the CLS reads 1750rpm at 70mph and the prevoius S Class on 21" rear wheels was just above idle at 1600rpm!
The ML has to push something akin to a town hall through the air, so that is at about 2000rpm.....all with the 320 CDI V6 same engine.;)

Late I6 E320CDI S211 almost bang on 2000 @ 70mph.

I understand from somewhere (can't for the life of me remember where now) that the estates got a slightly shorter final drive than the saloons. Pity as the 320 wood-burner could easily pull a longer FD unit. Particular since the remap... :bannana:

About 1700 - 1800 on our Volvo XC70, 2500 on our Volvo C30 1.6 diesel

Just set speedtronic to 70 and it's 1700 rpm. 2000 rpm is a tad over 80 (allegedly) :D

Bang on 2000 at 70 in the CL600 v12. Standard 19" wheels.
Mel.

That's interesting, you're right, the saloon has a 2.45 final drive and the estate has a 2.65 final drive.

E320 cdi saloon...

Transmission 7 speed automatic
Top gear ratio 0.73
Final drive ratio 2.47

E320 cdi Estate....

Transmission 7 speed automatic
Top gear ratio 0.73
Final drive ratio 2.65

The E280cdi has a 3.27 final drive.....

Transmission 7 speed automatic
Top gear ratio 0.73
Final drive ratio 3.27

I get 42mpg at 70mph but only 38mpg at 75mph, if I swapped the rear diff over for one from a saloon I could sit at my preferred 75mph and get 40+ mpg. :D

My 202 shows exactly 3000 rpm at 70.

Your C180k has similar power output to my old 2.3L 4cyl Volvo 245 and that would cruise at 2,500 - 3,000 all day. My E320 S210 cruises at 1,500 - 2,000. Both would go quicker but I'm refering to a lazy motorway cruise. Thing is, the slush box is not a fixed ratio. The E320 returns better mpg...

The slush box does lock up though and is then fixed...surely?

in the Golf about 1500 RPM in 6th

in the 320 about 2700 in5th.

ask me which I prefer to drive:rolleyes:. The near 30th year old Merc design is everything the Golf is not (except frugal!)

About 2400 in SWMBO's SLK230.

Just below 3000 in my E240. And despite the higher revs a lot more relaxed than the SLK. The V6 is discrete rather than torquey in this setup.
