Hello people,

I'm new to this so forgive me if I have posted in the wrong place. So here goes...

I have a C-class 2005 coupe. Over the past weeks the steering has started to pull hard to the left. If on any road, including motorway it drive to the left. Is this definitely the alignment needs fixing. If so does it require a special type of alignment.

The reason I am curious is because I went to my local National Tyres and they advised they could not track this car and requires a more advance alignment system.
With that being said, I took it to another independent tyre store and he said he could do it.

What shall I do, do I go to this one or require more specialist?

Thanks in advance :-)

If its started pulling then you need to find why, look at tyres and ball joints, bottom arms etc, then after fitting the replacement parts then get it set up.

Firstly, road camber - even on motorways - often cause drift to the left, so are you sure it just started, and not that you have simply never noticed it before?

Then, keep in mind that this might be tyre drift, to be confirmed by swapping over the front tyres (assuming they are not directional tyres).

As for front wheels alignment, this is a straightforward adjustment that can be done by any tyre fitted with the correct kit, the problem is that many of them just do not know how to use the equipemnt correctly.

And, what the car really needs is four wheels alignment and full geometry, which require expensive kit that only few garages have.

If you intend to keep the car for the long term, and like me you are OCD about its road handling and ride, consider a visit to Tony Bones in Chesham:

WIM will also be able to advise re any worn suspension components (or tyres) that may need replacing.

My guess says a bottom control arm bush has collapsed.
