Just a quickie, can anyone tell me the socket size that fits a C class 203 wheel bolt. (I am away from my car today and a someone here is asking me)

17mm

Portzy.
Tried this tonight instead of using the wheel brace in the boot. How come a 17mm socket feels loose on the wheel bolts. I tried 2 different sockets and they are not a tight fit. I wonder if an A/F socket size could get a tighter fit. Any views on this ? or could my wheel bolts be duff ?

I have at least 200 sockets, I will go through the u/s and old english sizes in the morning

I will also check out the 17mm and see how loose

Telivision, Are you serious ? It would take too long. Whitworth included ?

Just been down there with my night cap

A 17mm is a good fit on my MB bolts, the only other one is a 11/16 AF that is slightly larger but would be OK to use but worse in your case, no BSF will do on mine. Whit is BSF just one size up on the head

Its deffo 17mm and thats a really good fit on mine, both the SLK and A Class  .

Maybe the corners on yours have become a bit rounded which is giving the impression of a loose fit?. The e-bay bolts look like OEM merc ones that have been chromed and to me look quite nice, but you wont know the quality of the chrome until you have them I guess.

I took one bolt out today. Yep, they are pretty well worn. Not rounded but you can see that they have been on/off too many times.

Anyone know how much cost per wheel bolt from MB, or the part number of a C class wheel bolt, so that I can check price on Inchcape ?

Try ebay there are always loads of Bolt sets going for around £15

Pt Number is B6 647 0133. Strangely enough, the quality of the bolts coming through lately are quite good finish wise, I think they are about £1.50 each at my local dealers.

Thanks Portzy. Inchcape price is £8.92 plus vat for a set of 5. Think I'll take the ebay route.
