My recently acquired E320 has white corrosion around the stud holes on all 4 wheels.
Can this be a diy job [how?] or will it need a professional refurb.?

Sounds like the lacquer has been compromised. There is no reason why you couldn't strip and re-lacquer each wheel (trying to spot repair lacquer is a only good for temporary cosmetic repair) but it is time consuming and you may have to repair any paint under the lacquer that is damaged during the process. Spray on lacquer is available……unless you have a spare set of wheels and would like to give it a go, I would suggest having them professionally refurbished. Or by a new set of wheels.
This time round, you could consider powder coating; do some research on the finishes available and see what would suit you.
