Id rather just grab a wheel on ebay must be loads for that rim.....

They are on facebook, PM me for there number.
The first wheel he did for me I sent mail order collected repaired and returned in 3 days.
The wheel they have just done I went up there in my car by appointment and it was done while i waited, it took a few hours but worth it.

Thanks for all the response and comment

First off I'm genuinely grateful for all the comment, suggestion, opinions on reparability and links to suppliers.

Post seems to have generated some heat (perhaps that's imagined, difficult to tell in text) so I thought I'd update on where I am.

I'm located in the West Midlands, profile now updated to reflect this.

Had zenmans suggestion been just a little closer I'd have been driving over, the opinion of a forum member is valued, especially when that member has used the supplier twice and it would seem would do so again. As noted their web site was down today (seems to be partially back now) no contact details when I looked earlier so continued looking at options. courier wheel there and back not a deal breaker but on same day turnaround that leaves me on space saver spare for minimum of 3 days.

Opinion seems to be a little divided, some would repair some would not...

This morning I'd no real idea of costs and clearly this is a factor, a new wheel from an official 'stealer' last resort, don't suppose that would be cheap.

Preference is to keep the car reasonably standard so 3rd party wheels are out. Direct like for like replacement for reasonable cost 2nd hand unit would be considered. Also found set of 4 fully refurbished AGM wheels that seemed compatible found at £600 I could sell the 3 good wheels and recover some of that cost and the car could have coma out of the factory with AGM wheels... BUT its £600 up front, not off the table but not first option.

On the way home went into place in Birmingham, looked at pictures of the damage (on inside hard to see with wheel on) subject getting wheel off, onto their machine and doing full inspection they think its repairable at cost of £40. I'll drop off on way to work, they'll fit spare and I'll collect on way home tomorrow. I suspect after this repair, assuming its successful I'll need to have a full cosmetic refurb (powder cost) but that's on the agenda sometime in the next 12 months anyway.

OK so its an E320 and can gat a move on but its not a C63 and I drive like a funeral director anyway. Its an alloy wheel, lots of these get damaged so I figure that if they are repairable even if its specialist work there must be lots of folks about who can do this and there's lots of small engineering shops and metal bashers in Birmingham. Birmingham started bashing metal in the industrial revolution, we've had a bit of practice.

Not a posh glass palace but visiting the seemed straightforward folks. So for £40 they can have a go, I'll report back good or bad and let you now the outcome. If the repair isn't good enough there's that set of refurbished AGM wheels and reanult21ts spotted a wheel on ebay. also just spotted a further post from zenman with offer of contact details.

Again genuinely grateful for all the input.

David you could try acid at msl iam sure he could find a replacement or repairer. Personally being an engineer I do think it's repairable but I don't think I'd want it back on my car. Good luck.

In for repair today

dropped wheel off at 08:00 this morning should be ready by 16:00. In initial inspection with the tyre still on they didn't think it would be an issue, said they see and repair many like that every month.

Will report back later...

Wheel fixed £40 all in including balance, all seems back to normal.

I'd given the wheel a good whack which was obvious, once off there was another much smaller older dent evident on the inside of the rim, when I collected they said the repair was straightforward no particular issues and they had taken 3 dents out.

How do you tell if its a good repair other than cosmetic inspection, if the wheel looks 'round' and drives OK? Their premises look very back street but my last Saab indie looked back street to but they did a great job, flash premised don't always guarantee good results, you get folks complaining about poor work from franchaisd main MB dealers... Suffice to say only done 20 miles but all seems OK.

I think I still have a bit of a tyre/wheel issue so I'll be back to them to get the other 3 wheels balanced (£5 per wheel) next week, BUT car was like that before so its not the wheel that took the hit. Oh and it could be the cheap s**t tyres the dealer fitted...

Thanks to all who contributed to the discussion, top boys and girls all.

Other 3 wheels re-balanced yesterday, now rides better then ever before.

Got them to spin the wheels up prior to removing existing weights and all 3 were out of balance. If you've got suspected wheel balance issues always worth getting the wheels spun up on the machine prior to removing weights to see if they are out.
