Wheel offsets? W208 CLK230 Kompressor (2001)

Hello folks

Friend of mine has one of these:

He'd like to buy some after market alloys for the car. In order to make sure he gets the best possible fit and teh car retains its handling characteristics, could someboyd tell me what:

1. The standard offset is
2. The standard wheel size is

The wheels he wants to fit have a PCD of 5 x 114.3 and an offset of +50.

Is my research correct that the PCD on a clk230 is 5 x 112? I can't find anything about the offset though.

Standard 230 alloys are :-

Front axle 7j x 16 with a 37 offset
Rear axle 8j x 16 with a 36 offset

AMG wheels available for the CLK are :-

Front axle 7.5j x 17 with a 37 offset
Rear axle 8.5j x 17 with a 30 offset

The wheels he is looking at with a 50 offset will not fit , thats aside from the PCD being incorrect ( MB is 112 )

The wheels are multiple stud pattern, they have 4 / 5 hole depending on how they are put on.

The +50 offset means they will be tucked right inside the arch is my understanding.

Is there no way they'll fit?

Could get them machined, but what would be the point?

Get correct wheels, it's far safer.

Wheels come up on the forum quite frequently, tell him to wait and look at the classifieds for sale items until suitable wheels are advertised.

A 50 offset would need a spacer rather than machining.

Just tell him to get some nice OEM AMG wheels ...

'Multiple stud pattern' has Halfords written all over it .
