Hi all

Ive trawled through a number of threads but most seem quite old now - I’m after any recommendations for wheel powder coating centred around Guildford. I’ve used two outlets of The Wheel Specialist; East Grinstead, now closed and Fanborough. The latter was ok but not so good I would return without looking elsewhere.

cheers!

Wheelworks in Crawley has served us well over the years. Pleasant guys and do a quality job. They also have a tyre supply division which is handy.

Ah thanks’ I’ll check them out. The nickname for Crawley by the folks at our East Grinstead lab is “Creepy”. Always makes me chuckle.

There’s a wheel refurb place in Guildford who I’m sure forum member Peter @C43AMG has used in the last, he might be able to offer some insight?

Think they used to be called Wicked Wheels or similar but have a feeling the same place is now called Primo now instead.

Yes they are called Primo Alloys. Speak to Keven 01483 302227 they are now in Woking GU21 2LX

Ah thanks all - will give Primo a shout....

I used Primo when they were in Guildford. They were a good price, efficient and the wheels looked very respectable. Up close there were some minor imperfections but as mine was a daily driver I wasn't unduly concerned. If I was going for perfect factory finish I'd have been a bit disappointed though as they lacked gloss. Here's a rear wheel from my W203:

Thanks James, they look fine - do you know if they did the powdercoat lacquer as well? Mine's a daily as well so i'm not too worried about having a perfect finish, i'm more interested in durability to be honest. I had my Alfa done with hyper silver and that's really glossy so i might see if they can do/replicate that. Cheers!

'Creepy Crawley' was what CBers called the town. As 'Super Sabre' I was too often 'square-wheeled' on the nearby 'Superslab'.

Ha ha, now you’re going to have to translate that! 10-4
