I have a bad back (oos & aaas in the background):( so find it hurts when replacing wheels. I was thinking of something to help me that did not cost a fortune as I don't take the wheels off often, once, twice a year, so thought of furniture skids. Idea, slacken bolts as usual, trolley jack, lift car, slip this in under wheel, lower until wheel sits on this, bolts off then pull wheel towards me. Jack up & put in axle stands as usual. Replacing wheel, reverse of this. £35, Amazon 250kg load. Thought guys????

How high do your jacks go ?

Once the suspension is fully extended and the wheel is off the ground do you have enough height in reserve to lift it enough to get the trolley under the wheel ?

Trolley is about 6.5" high, good point. Will jack it up to see. Thanks

A set of 2 extension threaded rods that you put into place once you've removed 2 wheel nuts, before removing the remaining nuts and sliding the wheel off. Even better, they make aligning the wheel bolt holes easy when replacing the wheel! I have them for both my cars (M12 and M14). Can't think exactly what they're called, but I bought them off Ebay, boxed in sets of 2.

I already have them & they are good, but its the weight of the wheels, Mercs bad enough but worse on my Range Rover

Something like this 680kg Hydraulic Wheel Skate | Halfords UK might work - it's meant for moving the whole car though, so might be tricky to balance a loose wheel on it, looks like one of those things that you'd ideally need four arms to do!

There's similar things on eBay for under £100.

Might be a little tricky lining the bolt holes up if the rollers don't rotate - I don't think they do. A Canadian company does a thing called a Tyre Lift Caddy but I don't think they sell it outside Canada.

Use a spade to refit the wheels.. A spade not a shovel.
Get the hub at an appropriate height (ie, with the screw in studs a touch higher than the holes), bring the wheel to the hub, slide the spade under the wheel and manipulate the wheel into place by lifting the spade handle up (and sideways if necessary). The wheel will then easily slot onto the studs.

Sounds good, will give it a try. Thanks

Something like this would be easy and cheap to fabricate , they wouldn`t need to be as heavy duty as these ones if all they are moving is a wheel.
